It is difficult to determine the exact reason why it is not working without further information. However, some common troubleshooting steps you can try are: ensuring that you have a stable internet connection, checking if there are any conflicts with other software, reinstalling the program, or contacting the technical support team of Internet Download Manager for assistance.

This is a shareware application meaning that you'll have the possibility to test it for 30 days and afterwards it needs to be purchased to enable its functionality again. After 30 days the software will actually cease to work, and every time you'll want to start a download, a registration window will pop-up.

Download a trial version through the download page at Software Informer: http://internet-download-manager.software.informer.com/download/

You can buy it on the following page:

Hello, I frequently download videos from a private website I am a member. The videos are not streaming videos but they are links for .mp4, and .wmv video files which are downloaded completely but suddenly close at some point when playing and the part after it cannot be played. The downloads are not resumable. Also when I download the same video from same link both videos don't close at the same point. Sometimes it's downloaded completely fine. I guess this is a problem with IDM. Please guide me through the right settings.

That's not IDM's fault. The servers you are trying to download videos are protected and sometimes IDM can't get the correct links. This is the case that's happens to YouTube videos as well. The videos are split and they're attributed security information. When the server identifies that a download manager has made connection to videos, it automatically supplies security info in those videos and that's why they close immediately. The best way is to get an answer from the website's owner, but I double he'll change settings so you can download videos that are probably copyrighted.

Try using Free Download Manager as an alternative and see how it goes.

When my Internet Download Manager was downloading video files, it suddenly stopped by some reason and when I resumed, it asked my username and password. How can I get rid of this?

this works for me

  • right click on the download and select REFRESH DOWNLOAD ADDRESS. you should see this "IDM is waiting for the new address to resume the file"
  • wait for the page to load completely then wait for about a minuite. if the download does not resume carry the download and drop on IDM ITSELF (i.e click and hold on the download, then drag and drop on the download manager). the new address should be recieved and the download should resume

Open Internet Download Manager. From the top menu go to Help > Check for updates... or Help > Quick update for older versions. Then you should restart your computer as the software won't update without restart. If you have the latest version of IDM you should see this:
Click to viewenter image description here

Otherwise you will a dialog box that suggests you to update IDM. Click Update now to install the new version.
If for some reason IDM fails to connect and update please consult IDM's troubleshooting instructions.

One of the main tasks I would like to be able to do with the Internet Download Manager is to be able to copy either a specific product image and description or whole categories from a website and have the ability to place these as I want on my own website. Will I be able to do this with the Internet Download Manager?

Answer by Stephen Prastman

The answer would be NO, because this is only a download manager which helps you download files from the Internet at the maximum speed your Internet connection allows. For the purpose you mentioned, you will need to use WinHTTrack Website Copier.

You can download an entire website, but be careful - you might violate copyright laws.

You will need to download and update Internet Download Manager to its latest version. Browser needs to be updated to its latest version as well. Every new update of IDM brings new features such as better YouTube downloading and file recognition, so you might need to update before you can download any videos.

Internet Download Manager is nice software, but it's only for 30 days. Is there any software like IDM that can run for a year or more? If yes, please tell me its name.

J
Answer by Julia Bocchetta

There is a way to use Internet Download Manager for more than 30 days. The only way you can do it is through purchasing. The software is shareware, therefore it needs purchasing before you can use it for 1 year. You can do this on the official website.

A good alternative is Free Download Manager. It works the same as IDM, has good integration and besides that, it's free meaning that you can use it for as long as you want.

Please, open Internet Download Manager and go to Options. From the first tab, uncheck all the supported browsers and close the application entirely (tray menu included). After that open your favorite browser and go to the Extensions/Add-ons menu. Remove Internet Download Manager Extension and restart the browser, then perform the same operation for Internet Download Manager only backwards. Start the application and re-enable those integration options and you will be able to download with Internet Download Manager.
